“You probably have to put up with very little more”
“Generation must follow the course of generation”.
King Harald V of Norway said so in his speech at Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s gala dinner on 17 June this year. We have experienced several big jubilee and anniversaries in the royal world.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway came of age, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge turned 40 and Queen Margrete II of Denmark has reached her golden jubilee.
Queen Elizabeth II’s death has started the time we are now in: the transition period.
Here in Norway, the celebration of Princess Ingrid Alexandra started somewhat amputated.
The introduction to the official duties was carried out with a visit to the Storting and observation by the State Council. By King Harald, the jubilant was appointed to the Great Cross of St. Order of Olav. The highlight came on 17 June with a full gala dinner at the Castle.
Next to Norway’s royal family, the blue-blooded also came from Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Bulgaria and Hellas.
So many royals had not been together since the Norwegian royal couple’s 80th anniversary celebration in 2017.
Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark brought a gift from his mother, Queen Margrethe II.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra was awarded the Order of the Elephant, the highest award the Danish monarch can bestow.
The 70th anniversary in Britain had a veil of melancholy.
After 70 years on the throne and 96 years alive, it couldn’t be long for Queen Elizabeth II.
– The family has become closer to each other
That the time would not last longer than September 8 this year, no one had foreseen.
The Queen of God’s Grace, whom many of us considered immortal, was just as mortal as everyone else.
The longest-reigning queen of the world monarchy took her last breath and with it ended a period of 70 years.
But this was also the start of something. The start of the transition period. The time of change.
Denmark’s queen also celebrated 50 years on the throne, amputated by the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
It was further amputated by the media reports that the Queen takes from Prince Joachim’s child her titles at the end of the year. Is Queen Margrethe II preparing a change of throne?
Lausunge
Is it simpler for a mother and grandmother to be stripped of titles than it would have been for a brother and uncle on the day Crown Prince Frederik steps up the heavy steps to the throne?
Both Prince Joachim and Princess Marie were present at the end of the celebration, so it is not completely ahead.
King Harald is on sick leave: – Has a cold
Successions have historically been the most critical in the history of the monarchy. It was then that the crown was unstable.
In the age of sagas, the kings had many a lausungen and much power.
Today, the kings have neither power nor praise, so the change of thrones will probably take place in a quieter time than before.
The passing of Queen Elizabeth II was not just a watershed in British history, but European history as such. The transition period has begun.
A monarchy is never stronger than its heir, and several of those heirs are beginning to take on a more prominent role.
On the other hand, I would like to quote King Harald for what the future looks like: «You will probably have to put up with very little more».
