Hungary’s photo album has moved to the main square in Debrecen
Csaba Dömötör, the parliamentary state secretary of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, was the first to suggest that Cívisváros could be a worthy location for the installation, and he opened doors for the leaders of the county seat. – The participants submitted almost 120,000 works to the competition over four years. We had an old plan to present the best pictures at a traveling exhibition, but the epidemic delayed this for a while, he said at the opening on Thursday. He added: After last year’s exhibition in Budapest, Debrecen, one of the strongholds of Hungarian culture among the rural cities, will host the installation for the first time.
These pictures prove one by one that Hungary is full of captivating and fascinating places, period buildings and pulsating communities. The pictures show Hungary from many points of view and in many shades, but they have one thing in common: they are not about perfection, but about a place to which, despite all the daily difficulties, we are stubbornly attached and love
he said. The state secretary emphasized that it was with great pleasure that they selected for the exhibition works that were taken by local photographers, on locations in Debrecen, and even rock stars from Debrecen are featured in the photographs. Among the highlighted pictures is a work by our colleague, Annamarie Kiss, and a photo of our former colleague, István Derencsényi, in addition to them, Tamás Vida István strengthened the Debrecen team.
Deputy mayor Diána Széles said that the city of Debrecen is a particularly important location for the government’s aspiration to make rural Hungary a tourist destination as well. He emphasized that, since 2010, a wave of tourism development has been launched in the region, with which he can serve the visitors. The county seat is a worthy venue for all cultural events. We want to convey and strengthen the love of Hungary to the people living here, and this must be filled with quality content.
We are standing here in the main street of Debrecen and have brought these 130 wonderful pictures. With less, we did not dare to undertake to present the spirit and quality of the more than one hundred thousand photos received. A beautiful divided square, on a bright holiday, cooperative city management, with an understanding audience: no creator, no management can be more beautiful than this
said Ottó Kaiser, photographer jury president.
