– Fy faen – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule
It was in an interview with Danish TV 2 that Thorir Hergeirsson was asked about how Norway is preparing to face the Danish 7-on-6 game in the EC final.
– Do you think I should tell you? That’s the stupidest question I’ve heard, black national team manager.
– How big a focus has it been for you?
– Of course it is a focal point.
– Damn it, said Hergeirsson when he leaves the interview.
– Stupid question
In Denmark, the behavior of Norway’s coach has caused reactions.
– I was shocked when I saw the interview. What the hell kind of reaction is that? It is a completely relevant question he is being asked, says handball commentator Johnny Wojciech Kokborg BT
– Hergeirsson should be beaming with energy and joy over yet another final. It’s just too bad style. Maybe he is under pressure before the match, says the Danish handball commentator.
– I can understand that he gets annoyed when he gets the same question, many times, but it will not answer it. But it could have been handled in a more elegant way. The last comment should preferably not be caught on camera, says NRK’s handball expert Marit Malm Frafjord.
When the national team manager met the pressure on Saturday, Hergeirsson elaborated on what happened in the interview.
– It wasn’t really a stupid question, but it is stupid to ask the same question five times. When you get the same answer five times, that should be enough. It would be nice if we talked on Danish TV about what we should do, he said.
– Over the border
Norway has already played against Denmark in the tournament. Then Norway suffered a bitter 31-29 defeat.
The Danes have had an offensive and tough style in the championship in Slovenia. Henny Reistad has it, who was named the tournament’s best Sunday playerthe brand.
– There are many things that are a little over the line. Then it will be up to the judges to take it when it happens. Then it might be more things that you don’t see. We have to be smart in our counterplay, says Reistad.
– We would like to play hard. The key will also be made tomorrow, and the fight as hard as possible, says Denmark’s Kathrine Heindahl to NRK.
Captain Stine Bredal Oftedal and goalkeeper Solberg-Østhassel, who have been Silje pieces for Norway’s road to the final, have also felt the Danes’ tough style.
– They play very hard, without a doubt. They are very physical. That’s the listening they’ve put in. They are allowed to play like that and then we have to be ready for it, says Bredal Oftedal to NRK.
– They play very hard and are very physical. But I am very much looking forward to playing, says Solberg-Østhassel to NRK.
Norway are favorites to walk away with their ninth EC gold, but Denmark’s national team manager doesn’t care much about that.
– All Norwegians believe that Norway will win. I am very concerned about whether we can handle being in a final, but I think we have been so good at handling the challenges we have had in the past, says Jesper Jensen to NRK.
