San Marino. At the sanctuary of Valdragone prayer vigil for the victims and survivors of abuse
The Church has gathered in prayer for the victims and survivors of abuse.
It gives the news Diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro adding: “Al Sanctuary of Valdragone the Bishop wanted to underline the strong participation, if not as a number certainly as an interior communion, of those present. When the dignity of children is threatened, concern must concern not only the faithful but all people of good will.
“Sometimes – the Pope said – the reality of abuse and its devastating impact on the lives of the little ones seem to overwhelm the efforts of those who try to respond with love and understanding”.
The road to healing is long, it is difficult, it requires well-founded hope, hope in the One who went to the cross. The risen Jesus carries those wounds forever to tell us that God saves us not by “skipping” our sufferings, but through our sufferings. Abuse, in all its forms, is unacceptable.
“The testimony of the survivors – the Pontiff recalled – represents an open wound in the body of Christ which is the Church”. Hence the exhortation to work to make these wounds known, seek out those who suffer from them and recognize in these people the testimony of our suffering Savior.
Monsignor Andrea Turazzi immediately accepted the invitation of Pope Francis and after establishing the Diocesan Service for the protection of minors, shortly announced the diffusion of a handbook – edited by educators and psychologists – to help families, teachers and anyone who works in contact with the little ones to recognize those signs that hide a malaise. On the other hand, the counseling center is already operational and anyone can contact it to protect minors: E-mail: [email protected]; Cell. 346 7254983; Cell. 366 9067192.
