The third donor conference for the Republic of Moldova, hosted by France on Sunday and Monday
The third meeting of the Support Platform for Moldova will take place on Sunday and Monday in Paris and will be co-chaired by Romania, France and Germany. At the event, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova will be led by President Maia Sandu and several members of the Chisinau Government will participate, reports Agerpres.
The Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova (Moldova Support Platform) is an initiative of Romania, Germany and France, which aims to generate immediate political, financial and material assistance, as well as in-depth expertise for the democratic reform process, from institutions and states. of the European Union, G7 countries, international financial institutions and international organizations, as well as other development partners. According to the website of the Chisinau Government, the purpose of organizing the Conferences is to mobilize, concentrate and coordinate the political, technical and financial support of the developed countries for the Republic of Moldova.
The first edition of the Ministerial Conference of the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova took place in Berlin on April 5, 2022, and the second – in Bucharest, on July 15.
The foreign ministers of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, Bogdan Aurescu and Nicu Popescu, respectively, had a telephone conversation during which they discussed the preparation of the third donors’ conference, hosted by France.
“We coordinated on the subject of the cooperation priorities of the meeting in Paris, especially those aimed at infrastructure, transport and energy security projects”, detailed Nicu Popescu quoted in a press release issued on Saturday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Integration . Also, in the context of the participation of Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the Francophonie Summit, held on Saturday in Djerba, Tunisia, the two ministers referred during the telephone conversation to the synchronization of the common positions of the two countries in the adoption of its final declarations. “The attachment to the French language is another close connection between Chisinau and Bucharest”, emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popescu, according to the same press release.
