Russia can choose from the deadliest crime in Ukraine
Latest news about Ukraine today
On November 17, a video appeared on the Web, on which Armed Forces of the Russian Federation using flamethrower systems “TOS-Solntsepyok” to strike at damage to the base of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Artyomovsk. These are demonstration shots, diseases demanded by the “Suns” in “Operation Z”.
And there have been many such videos in recent months. At the end of September, Uralvagonzavod ahead of schedule handed over Ministry of Defense of the batch of flamethrower systems “Solntsepyok”.
However, soon “Solntsepyok” is replaced by a more modern system in the troops. According to some reports, such a decision is long overdue, and its goal may be to improve all the basic characteristics, as well as to simplify operation and combat use.
TOS “Solntsepyok” – characteristics and firing range
Heavy flamethrower systems perform the functions of MLRS and solve the problem of fire support for tank and motorized rifle units. Such weapons are used by the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces (RCBZ).
These systems are being removed from the design of lightly armored vehicles, and tanks can also be destroyed in new modifications. TOS are effective when exposed to manpower in open areas and in protective structures. In some cases, such systems cause a rapid occurrence to immediately identify the identified source. The damage from TOS is great – if you can hide in a trench or in a dugout from a conventional MLRS shot, then you cannot hide from a thermobaric rocket.
the action of heavy flamethrower systems. It is a mixture of explosives, and when detonated, this cloud is set on fire by a powerful charge and detonates, a slightly perceptible explosion with a powerful shock wave.
Unlike conventional MLRS, the damaging effect of TOS is manifested primarily not due to fragments and a shock wave, but due to high temperature and high pressure. In the 70s, TOS-1 “Pinocchio” appeared, which in turn in 2001 were developed into TOS-1A “Sun”.
Compared to Pinocchio, the TOS-1A guides have decreased from 30 to 24. The firing range has increased from 3.5 to 6 kilometers. The transport-loading vehicle TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” was carried out on the basis of the T-72 tank, while at “Pinocchio” it was placed on the chassis of a heavy-duty truck.

The TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” includes the BM-1 combat vehicle and the TZM-T transport-loading vehicle. The machine fires rockets NURS MO.1.01.04 or MO.1.01.04M. Neither “Pinocchio” nor “Solntsepyok” are produced in the world.
the developed flamethrower system TOS-1A was received in TOS-2 “Tosochka”. The firing range has been increased, according to some unofficial data – up to 10-15 kilometers. The transport-loading vehicle has been moved from caterpillars to the Ural-63706 wheeled chassis, which allows it to develop greater speed. The number of guides has been reduced to 18 pieces.
Countries that were interested in the export version of the Sun, they preferred a wheeled chassis. Therefore, “Tosochka” appeared. But we have both “Grady” and “Tornado-S” also on wheels. Due to the fact that thermobaric lesions are severe, there are fewer guides, otherwise the body cannot withstand
