Horror on Letné – Brno daily
At first I thought it was some tacky collage by some weak-minded would-be prankster. It wasn’t until the ČTK report “The flags of the Czech Republic and Ukraine are hanging inside with Putin’s likeness in a vacuum for corpses” that brought me back to the reality of a festive but at the same time sad day.

Festive because on October 28 we celebrate the day of the establishment of an independent state, sad because our current state – the Czech Republic – is no longer as independent, free and democratic as our ancestors thought it was in 1918, but also many of us after November 1989 represented.
But what appeared on this festive day in 2022 on the facade of the Leten building of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic could have literally come as a shock to many citizens.
Václav Havel yes! Václav Klaus no!
The effigy of Russian President Putin in a corpse vacuum between the flags of the Czech Republic and Ukraine. How to call it? Disgust, disgust, horror, depravity? I am at a loss for words.
But this statement alone should not end the installation of this “political slag”. After all, we have law enforcement authorities and their duty is to check whether this has not violated the law.
I’m not a lawyer. Nevertheless, I will allow myself a small hint for those law enforcement agencies that are not afraid to take a step against the existing regime. It could be § 364 of the Criminal Code – incitement to commit a crime.
