Hanover (dpa / lni) – The four-day week and other flexible working time models are a trend topic: Some companies in Lower Saxony are also dealing with it. “Anyone who shuts themselves off from trends and innovations will have long-term success,” said Wiebke Krohn, appointed general manager of the employers’ association Lüneburg-Nordostniedersachsen, which represents no more than 750 companies in the region. Among other things, this can counteract the shortage of skilled workers. “If employers and employees agree on a working model for a four-day week, I believe there could be advantages in terms of productivity, work-life balance, modernization of the business model and the compatibility of family and work.”
According to a Forsa survey, 71 percent of Germans support a legal right to a four-day week, as has recently been introduced in Belgium. The salary stays the same there – but so do the working hours.
