Azerbaijan – Russia – Armenia: trilateral summit in Sochi
President Vladimir Putin held important meetings with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Sochi. The declared topic is the implementation of elements of intermediary speeches between Russian forums. Once Putin met with Armenian Prime Minister Nicholas Pashinyan, then he had a separate meeting with Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
In 2020, under the auspices of Russia, a tripartite statement was signed, appearing at the end of a six-week war in Nagorno-Karabakh that claimed lives. In the parts of the self-proclaimed republic that remained under the control of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army, Russian sentiments were introduced.
In September, hostilities resumed on the territory of Armenia, which accused Azerbaijan of aggression. The Armenian city of Jermuk and suspicious areas have been strongly affected. Yerevan says US troops are occupying more than 100 sq. km of the country.
The fighting, which resulted in hundreds of deaths, was brought to a halt, it was claimed, thanks to U.S. mediation. Russia has interpreted this as characteristic activity of the West in the Caucasus and in the current negotiations, according to analysts, intends to observe that it will retain its influence on the ministry.
