A repaired roof collapsed in Příbram, one man was seriously injured
“On Tomáš Garrigu Masaryk Square in Příbram, roof reconstruction was taking place in an uninhabited house. It should have collapsed into the interior,” regional police spokeswoman Barbora Schneeweissová told iDNES.cz.
The three workers are without visible injuries, the rescuers examined them on the spot. Their thirty-five-year-old colleague had serious multiple injuries to the head, ankle and chest, and paramedics airlifted him to the University Hospital in Motola. He was conscious the whole time.
According to Schneeweiss, it was unclear how many people were working on the roof. “Their colleagues said they didn’t know if there were six or eight in total,” she said. The police found out on the spot that four other workers were having lunch at the time of the roof collapse and were therefore outside the building.
“The handler went through there with the dog and didn’t find anyone. The firefighters sent another dog there instead. And really, everyone should be out,” Schneeweiss described.
Since it was not clear how many people were injured, rescuers also called a special Fénix vehicle to the scene, but it was able to recall.
Three police patrols and a criminal investigation team are on the scene. “We will investigate whether there was any misconduct or negligence. We will investigate the causes and circumstances of the roof collapse,” the police spokeswoman added.
