La Rochelle airport extends its flights with Marseille and Lyon
Building on the success of the La Rochelle – Marseille link delivered by Ryanair on May 2, 2022, the company has decided to extend the line this winter, with 2 flights per week, every Friday and Sunday. The connection, operated by Boeing 737-800 with a capacity of 189 seats, is offered from October 30, 2022 to March 24, 2023, at the following times: Friday, departure from Marseille at 3:15 p.m., arrival in La Rochelle at 4:35 p.m. Departure from La Rochelle at 5 p.m., arrival in Marseille at 6.15 p.m. Sunday, departure from Marseille at 2.20 p.m., arrival in La Rochelle at 3.40 p.m. Departure from La Rochelle at 4.05 p.m., arrival in Marseille at 5 p.m. 20.
Ryanair is also adding flights during the Christmas holidays on Tuesday December 20 and 27, 2022, as well as Tuesday January 3, 2023. Marseille and its region will thus be a 1 hour 15 minute flight from La Rochelle, which contributes to improving the connection between these two cities. Studies have shown that the connection between La Rochelle and Marseille responds just as well to travel needs for professional reasons as to family and leisure trips.
The connection between La Rochelle and Lyon, provided by the company Chalair Aviation, is also extended throughout the winter. From November 2, 2022 to March 24, 2023, the connection will be provided by an ATR 72 with 72 seats, and no longer by an ATR 42 with 48 seats, at the following times:
Monday and Tuesday, departure from La Rochelle at 6 a.m., arrival in Lyon, 8:10 a.m. Departure from Lyon at 8:45 a.m., arrival in La Rochelle at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, departure from La Rochelle at 5 p.m. 10, arrival in Lyon at 7.20 p.m. Departure from Lyon at 7.55 p.m., arrival in La Rochelle at 10.05 p.m.
The morning schedule offered on Monday and Tuesday mornings and the late return offered the other 3 days of the week should be more suitable for business trips.
On the other hand, the London-Stansted line will be suspended this winter and will resume at the end of March 2023. This is the result of an insufficient load factor over the first 9 months of 2022 (65% at the end of September). It should be noted that 53,349 passengers were transported between London and La Rochelle over the first 9 months of 2022, compared to 10,893 passengers over the whole of 2021. The British market also remains the leading market on the La Rochelle – Île de Ré airport, for 38% of the passengers transported.
