MHSC – Monaco: “My priority is the defensive side”, find the best of the Dall’Oglio conference
The Montpellier coach spoke on several subjects before the match, Sunday October 9, at 1 p.m., at La Mosson, against Monaco.
The group for Monaco: “The infirmary is empty”
“Mamadou Sakho still feels discomfort in the calf. We’re stopping him for this weekend, we’re not going to take any risks. We’ve had some feedback and it’s rather pleasant. The infirmary is gradually emptying. It’s good to have choices to make, it helps to strengthen the squad on the bench.
There will therefore be seasoned players who will be ready to return, which gives us additional strength. ”
The irregularity of his team: “A problem of tactical discipline”
“There is a scenario that repeats itself, we open the partition then we suffer a lot and we unfortunately get back up. There is a problem of tactical, defensive discipline on everyone’s part. The block is retreating quite quickly and we miss We are not safe as in the last match from a corner, a counter-attack, a refereeing error… We have to release more force too often and that’s our main concern at the moment.”
A psychological problem after the first but cashed: “A guilty release”
“There is a kind of guilty relaxation then feverishness that sets in. We must not panic, put more intensity in our intentions and be even more in the communication so that we have an even more compact block and solid. We don’t make defensive returns with the same intensity. We have indiscipline at times and we don’t have this feeling of moments when it’s going to be difficult and when we have to tighten the lines.”
Playing with one or two collectors: “It works for us”
“Depending on the tactics that we put in place, but for us, it takes care of the good. It’s also a question of discipline, desire and determination. When you have the ball, when you are a defensive midfielder, you have the right to play but after that you have a lot of work to do in terms of running, intensity, winning duels, replacements and that, we forget it. It’s an important position, you have to accept to sacrifice yourself sometimes and have this kind of player.”
Monaco: “Solid on all fronts”
“It’s a team that gives off a lot of strength. It’s a big squad with two teams split. It’s solid in all respects, very strong defensively, effective from set pieces. Monaco also have Ben Yedder who walks on water, they also have other players who go fast and are able to score goals. They give off a close-knit, solid and ambitious team block.
Defensive problems: “Not taking two or three goals per game”
“My concern today is not attacking, I think we are capable of scoring even when we have had injuries. But we are also capable of conceding goals in all matches. If we resume the matches of Angers and Toulouse, we score but behind it it’s useless if we lose the match. We are the 2nd attack, it’s good if we collect points. We have to be able to win 1-0 or 2-1 and not concede two or three goals per game. We have to be more solid. My priority is the defensive side.”
The number of points: “We could have two more”
“Twelve points is good but I have regrets against Angers where we have to bring back a point. Against Auxerre, we must not lose. We could have two more points.”
