The charity wine auction of the Budapest Wine Festival and the Hungarian Maltese Charity ended with a high income
The charity wine auction of the Budapest Wine Festival and the Hungarian Maltese Charity brought in a total of HUF 15.9 million, which made it possible to purchase a new minibus for the charity’s Symphony program.
In 2014, the Hungarian Maltese Charities launched the Symphony program in the Monori Roma settlement, and then, recognizing the results of the initiative, the Ministry of the Interior announced a tender in 2020 to spread the method. It is possible for 3,200 children in 200 settlements to learn instrumental music in tune with social work. Currently, 50 music teachers work with 700 children, the organizers of the charity auction told MTI on Tuesday.
As the announcement emphasizes, the Symphony program does not look for talents, but rather helps to bring out all inherent abilities and promotes the successful completion of high school. At the same time, a number of musical talents also appeared, from which a band of varying composition was formed. The next step is for children living in remote settlements to be able to travel with their own minibus to joint rehearsals and performances, which is why the goal of the Hungarian Maltese Charities was to purchase such a vehicle at the charity wine auction on September 29.
The items included in the auction were put up for auction by music historian Ádám Bősze, presenter of Rádió Bartók and Gábor Antal, main organizer of the Budapest Wine Festival.
Among the 37 items, The Vine HRVSTD for You – Balian Grande Cuvée 2020 vintage wine was sold at an affordable purchase price corresponding to the auction price. The starting price was HUF 10,000, but in the end it was sold for HUF 510,000, i.e. fifty-one times the price it was sold to.
Included in the auction ice price was a selection of Palkó Borok and Abaújtyén Keresztyén Manufaktúra, which consisted of a 2008 and a 2017 Tokaji aszút and a 0.375 liter 2018 vintage wine in a unique gift box. The lot started at HUF 150,000 and finally sold for HUF 600,000.
The absolute record holder, i.e. the most sold lot in the history of the auction, was a selection of three bottles of Pajzos Tokaj’s aszu from the 1963 vintage, for which a buyer gave HUF 750,000 after a long bidding war starting from a starting price of HUF 60,000. It was also the oldest wine in the auction.
