″a dream come true″ and stadium is doubt
Clube da Liga 3 welcomes the national champion in the third round of the Portuguese Cup.
The president of SAD do Anadia, Vasco Oliveira, considers that facing FC Porto, in the third round of the Portuguese Cup, is the realization of the dream of seeing his club measure the great of national football.
“This is a dream come true. It is the first time, as I remember, that we have faced one of the greats”, he said, in his first statement to the Lusa agency.
Anadia da Liga 3 will host here, FC Porto, holder of the knockout trophy of the competition, on Tuesday the draw for this phase of the competition.
Vasco Oliveira recalled that, two or three years ago, they almost faced Benfica in the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup. “We were very sad at the time, not having today, this brought us a big one. This is very good for the club, that the mere draw, today, and for the city”,
Despite the draw having dictated that Anadia receive FC Porto, the president does not know “if the stadium will be able to receive the match” with the Porto players. “There is an unfinished bench and, therefore, I am not sure whether or not to promise to hold the municipal game of Anadia. But, we will do everything to make it happen at home.
Anadia’s coach, Rui Borges, highlighted “the great happiness” that is being able to play a match with the national champion, of the previous Anadienses eliminated Fafe in the round of the ‘queen’ competition. “The squad had to face a ‘big success’ as a goal of being in the third round, otherwise, we would try to pass rounds until we get it”, he assured.
Ahead of Ana Lusa, the coach will face “a very difficult challenge”, but he will face the challenge with the greatest of responsibilities. “We are going to enter the field to make life difficult for the national. We know it will be extremely difficult, but my players also want to show themselves”, he concluded.
The third round matches of the Portuguese Cup are scheduled for October 15th and 16th.
