Prague, Ostrava and the Moravian-Silesian region present themselves at the fair in Munich
The EXPO REAL trade fair is the most important European meeting place in the real estate sector and the starting event for business negotiations at the end of the year. After restrictions in the last two years due to the pandemic, Prague, Ostrava and the Moravian-Silesian region will present themselves at this prestigious international fair in a joint exhibition called Czech Cities & Regions.

“We are following up on the joint presentation of the cities and the region, which we have tried in the past. Ostrava once again organized the joint exhibition. I am sure that this time too I will bring the same effect to the stand and potential business partners from abroad and those interested in investing in the Czech Republic will have the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information. It is a unique platform for the presentation of projects and investment opportunities of local governments and private entities and an exceptional opportunity to contact the mayor or possibly business ties,” said Tomáš Macura of the Statutory City of Ostrava.

In recent years, Ostrava has undergone fundamental changes in the way it thinks about its development. Its territory is very vast from an urban planning point of view, therefore the main priority of the city is to stop brownfields and open spaces, especially in the city center. An example of this being successful is the newly emerging district in the vicinity of the reconstructed building of the historic city slaughterhouse at the contemporary art gallery, the construction of the Nové Lauby housing complex or the new university campus by the Ostravice river in the city center. Ostrava is ready for the arrival of investors not only from the point of view of the offered areas, the friendliness of the environment and the maximum willingness to cooperate, but also from the point of view of the functionality of the spatial plan, which is in very good condition compared to other Czech cities.
At this year’s EXPO REAL fair, Ostrava offers areas for housing, administration and services on Českobratrská, Masná, Polská, Opavská and Plzeňská streets. For those interested in industrial real estate, it has plots of land in the Mošnov Strategic Industrial Zone. Conditions for development in partial areas are always defined with regard to local specifics. The city expects investors to build buildings that will be urbanistically valuable and functional with respect to the existing surrounding development.
The EU has criticized projects that want to get billions. What does this mean for the region?
“Previously, the Moravian-Silesian Region was perceived as a purely industrial region. However, this is also changing due to the end of black coal mining, and our region is now undergoing a fundamental transformation. By supporting innovative visions, state-of-the-art technologies and daring, we become an important technology player. And this is exactly how we want to present our region at the EXPO REAL fair. One of the goals is to present the Moravian-Silesian Region as a place that at the moment is facing our great favorite and how to most effectively use the transformation money from the European Fund for a Just Transformation. The region is prepared to use these funds to support the preparation of development projects, thereby giving the necessary potential partners and investors the opportunity to participate in the development of our region. At the fair, we are going to find a number of interesting locations and projects in attractive residential, commercial or production areas, and thus present not only visionary, but also standard investment projects,” said the Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region, Ivo Vondrák, adding that the region presented, for example, development possibilities in the foothills at the fair areas or development projects across the entire region.
The end of the mines in Karviná: how many miners are leaving, with what severance pay and what about the landscape
The area with an area of 60 km² between the towns of Karviná, Havířov and Orlová is called the mountain area. It is being addressed by the transformation program POHO 2030, whose vision is to bring the landscape, which previously belonged to coal mining, back to life and open it up to people. Thanks to its key projects, POHO 2030 wants to attract investors to the area and thereby obtain the necessary capital for comprehensive development, including smart solutions and new energy. The region will present these projects at the fair, for example Circular Park Lazy, Industrial Park Jan Karel, strategic project POHO Park Gabriela or EDEN Silesia.
