The Summer Multidisciplinary University “Russia-Africa” is being rounded off in Crimea
Doctors from African countries have successfully completed advanced training courses at the Crimean Federal University (KFU) named after. V. I. Vernadsky in the framework of the Summer Multidisciplinary University “Russia – Africa”. The project was launched by the RAFU (Russian-African Network University) consortium with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
The purpose of the educational program is to support foreign graduates of Russian universities who are already working in African countries in the acquired specialties.
At the end of August, courses started at the Medical Academy. S. I. Georgievsky KFU. The university accepted its graduates – 10 practitioners from Zimbabwe, Libya, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania and Tunisia, who mastered two-week intensive courses in surgery, gynecology and obstetrics – the most priority areas of medicine in their choice.
“It’s great to be back at my university, especially now that I’m already a doctor and I can work with teachers like colleagues,” said Takudzwa Reynald Macheka, a medical doctor from Zimbabwe.
The participants listened to lectures from teachers, and also had an internship in the institutions of the Crimea. In particular, at the Center for Simulation and Simulation Training of KFU named after. V. I. Vernadsky, foreign guests were able to apply new knowledge, work out all the stages of operations on a mannequin, hone movements and see errors using 3D modeling.
In addition to the main programs for doctors, various cultural events were provided. They visited the sights of the peninsula, explore Simferopol and Yalta, for the first time they saw the cave “Tavrida”.
After completing the intensive African program, the specialists received a certificate of completion of the educational program. Now they plan to apply the new knowledge in their home countries to take local health care to the next level.
The Russia-Africa project involves 10 Russian universities. The focus is on strengthening cooperation between Russia and the UK in education, science and economic development.
