Concert interrupted due to storms – fans still have fun
Starting today, up to 58,000 fans per evening are expected to attend three Ed Sheeran concerts in Frankfurt. Additional buses and trains run for this purpose.
Update from Saturday, September 24, 9:19 p.m.: Extension in the Waldstadion, but this time one of the uncomfortable kind. Ed Sheeran’s concert on Saturday evening (September 24) was interrupted due to a storm that swept over Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main area. The Frankfurt police announced this via Twitter.
“Please stay in your seats, it will continue shortly,” wrote the police. Only a few minutes later the unwanted break was over again. The fans at the second of three Ed Sheeran concerts in Frankfurt were hardly bothered by the interruption, as can be seen on the videos.
The third and last part of the concert marathon for Ed Sheeran in Frankfurt will follow on Sunday (September 25th).
Ed Sheeran in Frankfurt today: How to get there by train
First report from Tuesday, September 20th: British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will follow Frankfurt. And with him tens of thousands of fans who want to experience the artist live again on the last stop of his big European tour (Mathematics Tour). On three evenings, from Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25, additional trains on the S-Bahn lines S7, S8 and S9 as well as the special tram line 20 in the direction of the stadium are planned. Up to 58,000 fans are expected on all three evenings.
For this purpose, special trains are used from many corners of Hesse, as the RMV reports. There will be special trains from Marburg to the Frankfurt Stadium on all three days, and additional trains from Fulda to Deutsche Bank Park on Saturday and Sunday. A special train to Frankfurt is also to be deployed from Glauburg-Stockheim station on Sunday. The same applies to the return journey after the concerts in the direction of Marburg and Fulda.
By public transport to Ed Sheeran in Frankfurt: RE70 also stops at the stadium
In order to make it easier for fans from the south to get there, the RE70 line, which runs regularly between Mannheim and Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, also makes an unscheduled stop south of the Main directly at the stadium. Longer trains are also used on various regional transport lines (RB and RE) so that more passengers have space in the direction of Frankfurt.
Since travel by RMV public transport is included in the ticket, the transport association is planning to expand the Frankfurt city transport routes on the three concert days. In addition to the S-Bahn lines S7, S8 and S9, which go to the Ed Sheeran concert at the Waldstadion, the tram lines S21 and S20 are also to be used more frequently. In addition, there are special buses on lines S80 and S61 from Frankfurt Südbahnhof in the direction of the Osttribüne stadium.
Traveling to the Ed Sheeran concert in Frankfurt by train: S7 runs above ground at the main station
As a tip for anyone arriving by S-Bahn, the transport association would like to point out the S7 S-Bahn line, which does not depart from the B level of Frankfurt Central Station like the S8 and S9, but regularly from platforms 2 and 2 3 in the main hall of Frankfurt Central Station. For this reason, experience has shown that these are particularly suitable for a more relaxed approach to Deutsche Bank Park.
This will also take place on all three days parallel to the Ed Sheeran concert Frankfurt Oktoberfest in front of the stadium grounds takes place, which also attracts many visitors. It is also worth planning a little more time for the journey and being at the stadium in good time. The concert starts at 6 p.m. on all three evenings, admission from 4 p.m. (ska/esa)
