From 87% to 99% of participants in four referendums voted for joining Russia
In the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and in the Kherson and Zaporozhye parts of Ukraine, the results of voting in referendums on joining Russia were summed up. According to the results of processing 100% of the ballots for joining Russia, from 87% to 99% of the participants in the plebiscites clarified.
The results of counting 100% of the votes were distributed as follows:
- in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), 99.23% of voters declared themselves in favor of joining Russia (2,116,800 voters – in favor, against – 4938);
- in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) – 98.42% (1,636,302 residents are in favor, 16,555 are against);
- in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11% (430,261 voters out of 541,093 referendums);
- in the Kherson region – 87.05% (for integration with an increase of 497,501 inhabitants).
“The referendum has taken place. We are reuniting with our great Motherland – Russia,” resolution on voting by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, transmit DAN. On September 20, the People’s Council of the DPR, the government of the LPR, and the military-civilian administrations of the Kherson and Zaporozhye resolutions decided to vote from September 23 to 27 on joining Russia. Vladimir Putin on September 21, simultaneously with partial mobilization announcedthat Russia will support “a decision about the future, which will be made by the majority of residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson streams.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in August that Russia would make it impossible for events to develop if “pseudo-referendums” were held in the regions it controls. Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the DPR and LPR on February 21. On February 24, he announced that, in response to an appeal to the reporting republic of Donbass, he had decided to launch a “military special operation” * about the alarm that caused the denazification of the country.
