The mayor of Žebětín defended his mandate for the seventh time this year. He inherited nursing from his father
It is true that it is already the seventh election period and Žebětín has grown mainly with the Kamechy housing estate, where one does not have much influence, so I did not expect such overwhelming success, but one will be pleased. I think it’s a kind of certificate for the four years of work.
What are your priorities?
Within the next four years, we have another elementary school pavilion, because otherwise we will not be able to put the children there again from the next school year. We are making a zoning decision now. Sewerage should be completed in two streets. We already have a building permit application for that. And after an agreement with the regional office, we are projecting the expansion of the road from the old German highway to Žebětín, because it is in a catastrophic state. A bypass between Kohoutovice in the direction of Bystrc has already been designed. And if the territorial plan is approved in the next election period, the eastern bypass is planned there, which is now in place.

In this year’s elections, you defended your mandate for the seventh time, do you still enjoy it after so many years?
If I didn’t enjoy it and didn’t have results, I wouldn’t go into it anymore, because everything is getting more and more complicated. People’s attitude is starting to get a little worse, especially after covid, as far as communication is concerned. But I am lucky that 70 percent of the council remained the same composition. We’ll have about four newbies there, but they’re all, at least as far as I know, nice people. I think we will be a working team again without playing for a coalition. I believe that we will pull together for the next four years.

So do you already have an idea about the council?
I have an idea, we don’t even have to form a coalition, because we have seven mandates out of eleven. However, I will discuss with both parties on committees such as where he would like to have his representative on the council committee. I think it will be a creative and collaborative team.

My father helped me a lot during the first term. He passed on experiences to me. But in the nineties it was a little different than it is now. A lot of things were agreed on the street with just a handshake and it was valid. Now you must slowly have forty stamps for everything.
What do you think helped you succeed?
I think it is also due to the fact that the council is united and we have not needed any coalitions in six election periods. At the beginning of the election period, I always tell all representatives, without distinction, that if we are a friendly and cooperative team and do not play any politics, because we are playing at a higher level, then we can do a lot of work in four years. And it really worked, in the last election period we only had assemblies for an hour or an hour and a half. I am sure that no one will price me, and that we have time for creative work.
