Hairdresser: Prague 3 has started building a new streetball court
The patch that has been washed a thousand times next to the sprayed walls of Parukářka finally has its solution.. A leisure field will be built here, an artificial surface, a basket and barriers against falling balls will be added. Prague 3 wanted to transform the area for a long time. According to the mayor of Prague 3 Jiří Ptáček (TOP 09), the town hall often receives messages with ideas for using the space in front of one of the three entrances to the concrete shelter under Parukářka hill. In the same way, people express themselves personally in participation meetings.
“The popularity of so-called unorganized sports has been growing in recent years,” the mayor tells Bleska. In the immediate vicinity of the residence, residents can play ping-pong, basketball on the court or work out in the outdoor workout area. By building the playground, the town hall wanted to expand the activities of the locals. Among other things, it improves the deplorable state of the territory. However, the hairdresser will need a more complex intervention. “At the same time as the streeball court, a study and project is being developed for the revitalization of the entire western end of Parukářka,” adds the mayor of Prague 3. For example, the stairs will be repaired.
Unbearable situation
“We were looking for a place to build a streetball court. This plot has been evaluated as suitable. This is a project that can be achieved with quite reasonable financial costs,” comments Jiří Ptáček. The concrete surface was cracked, poorly cleaned and the cleaning costs were unnecessarily high. “We wanted to cultivate the area so that it doesn’t look embarrassing for all the people who go to Parukářka,” adds the mayor.
The intention caused a response from residents on social networks. Among other things, the question arose as to what should be done with the entrance to the bunker, which is located in the wall next to the future sports field. It will not be made available, because it does not belong to the town hall. The term Parukářka bunker covers three different spaces inside the hill. One of them is an anti-aircraft shelter, which is located just behind the barred door. “This entrance is rented by the municipality to a private company that organizes events and concerts here,” says the mayor. But it is no longer legally sent behind anti-aircraft cover.
Why not a skate park?
For others, residents asked why the town hall did not let a skatepark be built in the concrete corner. The lack of size was decisive. “The space would be small for a skate park, and it would also cause noise,” good mayor The “board” wheels on hard surfaces made a mess. “I don’t think it would be well received by park visitors. The main problem, however, is the fact that the space for the skatepark would be too small,” adds the mayor. On the other hand, the streetball court will have a soft surface that will dampen the noise.
The town hall has been dealing with the idea of a skatepark for a long time. Originally, Prague 3 had a designated area under the railway bridge in Trocnovská Street. However, it was on purpose, because it is said that the Railway Administration changed its mind and decided to use the land for its own purposes of parking its employees. However, Prague 3 will still have a skatepark. It is being prepared for Pražačka, it could be ready in the spring.
Few baskets and frogs?
Residents are raising concerns on social media about litter lying around freely as there is only supposed to be one bin on the playground. However, Mayor Jiří Ptáček points to the fact that this is not a classic multi-player field, but only a streetball field and one basket should be enough. An avid frog enthusiast, Jan also supports that protected green toads live under the concrete. “The town hall has no evidence that there are frogs here,” says Jiří Ptáček.
