Russia is working with Egypt on the use of Mir cards
Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko said that Moscow is of great importance with Cairo about the collection of the Mir payment system. The Russian Federation hopes that in the near future it will reach the process of scientific research.
“Currently, we are working with Egyptian delegations, including the Central Bank of Egypt, on the possibility of using Mir cards in the ARE (Arab Republic of Egypt.— “b”). This, of course, is known to tourists who arrive at local resorts, pay in rubles and do not collect a large amount of cash on trips. This can greatly increase the tourist flow in Egypt. “I believe that this process has arisen in the near future,” Mr. Borisenko said on the air of Sada el-Balad. His words are used on the embassy’s Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Mir cards are sent to 11 countries: Turkey, Vietnam, South Korea, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Earlier this week, the United States officially warned a third-country financial institution against cooperating with the Mir payment system. Experts believe that this can significantly slow down the expansion of the geography of accepting Mir cards, as well as interaction with countries where they already exist.
