There were nearly four million passengers at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport this summer
August was the third month in a row when the passenger volume reached or exceeded 80 percent of the volume registered in 2019, a record year before the coronavirus epidemic, and the fourth when the total monthly passenger traffic exceeded one million. The most popular destinations in the month were Tel Aviv, London, Amsterdam, Antalya and Frankfurt.
In a statement, Budapest Airport emphasized that, despite the globally typical downward trend, the volume of cargo remains stable. In the January-August period, a 47 percent increase in the volume of goods was measured compared to the traffic handled in the same period of 2019 before the opening of Cargo City. In August, the volume of goods was 15,37 tons, at a minimum, compared to the same reduced month of 2,2,1 in 2021.
In September, Budapest Airport began expanding the baggage claim area of Terminal 2A in order to prepare for the smooth handling of the expected increase in passenger traffic in the future. Due to the development, from September 15, some flights will arrive at terminal 2B differently than usual, and passengers will receive their checked baggage here – Budapest Airport informed.
