City of Salzburg – The SeneCura case: Further steps to solve the Senecura crisis can only be taken together
The situation surrounding the SeneCura home in Lehen has been keeping people busy for days.
Neither the state nor SeneCura meet the open handling of this cause that has been demanded several times. The city still does not have access to the necessary documents regarding inspection visits by the state or the necessary care documentation from residents. Therefore, next Monday, September 19, 22, a special social committee of the Salzburg municipal council will deal with the question of how individuals can be taken over from the home. This special session and the municipal council on Wednesday should provide the legal framework for this, because an intervention in the ranking list for admission to the municipal senior citizens’ homes is required. The desired reduction in residents to 50 people can only be achieved together – i.e. through a joint effort by SeneCura, the state of Salzburg and the other home operators. This is still the recommendation of the city experts.
“As a city, we have no legal obligation, but we do have a moral obligation to take care of people and to help solve the supply crisis. The responsibility for the current conditions lies with the operator and the country. At least I expect that SeneCura and the country will finally inform us fully about the condition of the people we are supposed to take over. I am very concerned that people are resting on our offer of help. It’s too easy to dump all the responsibility onto the city. A joint, coordinated approach is needed under the leadership of the state,” says Social Councilor Anja Hagenauer
