You can see the posters of György Szomjas films in the wine bar in Debrecen
Debrecen – The event will be a kind of return to the location with a special atmosphere, where several scenes of the film Alföldi rock were filmed.
Ten years ago, in 2012, György Szomjas’ Kossuth Prize-winning director’s film Alföldi Rock was premiered. The musical documentary had its premiere in Budapest at the Uránia National Film Theater and in Debrecen at the Apolló cinema, and in 2013 it also went to the Los Angeles Film Festival.
Several interviews of the film about the PG Group were shot in Debrecen: with József Jámbor, Béla Vincze, Zoltán Herczeg and László Lukács. (They also keep an engraved glass with the film director’s name, so they still remember him.) And not only in Debrecen, but also in Paris, he filmed in a place with a similar atmosphere with Christian Paccoud, a French tango accordion player who also works with PG. It’s no coincidence that
the PG Group is particularly proud that the film director made a film about them, since he has not made a full-length movie about a rock band apart from the Bald Dog!
György Szomjas passed away in 2021. They remember him and want to pay tribute to him by exhibiting his movie posters in the wine bar on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, whose owner, art patron István Kovács, was happy to host this event as well.
These films were decisive in the lives of the domestic audience and many of them have their favorite Thirsty film. Today, even the “movie poster” is a passing concept, everything is “moving” to the Internet… It’s good to look at these posters immediately, you might remember a detail of the movie or its story.
Most of the graphics and photos were created by well-known Hungarian artists at the time, and György Szomjas’ refined taste and knowledge, thinking, and worldview permeate each work.
The exhibition was put together by Csaba Jantyik (musician, producer) and will be opened by Zsolt Jantyik, singer, lyricist, composer, public culture specialist.
In addition to the usual good atmosphere that accompanies the spectacular exhibition, István Kovács’ world-famous slumbuca and garland litigator await you in September, along with excellent wines, on the 15th, from 5 p.m. in the Egri Borozó Borbarát Galéria.
