Diocesan Caritas of Siena: 3,600 meals and 200 food packages were provided in July and August
In the months of July and August, the diocesan Caritas of Siena-Colle di Val D’Elsa-Montalcino guaranteed various personal services 24 hours a day. In particular, an average of 60 meals a day were provided in the canteens of via dei Servi and Via Mascagni. A total of approximately 3,600 complete meals in the two months.
These are the data released by the diocesan Caritas of Siena-Colle di Val d’Elsa-Montalcino regarding the activities carried out in the summer period (July and August 2022). Always open, twice a week, the showers with the change of underwear. On the food side, Caritas has also made new agreements to guarantee a correct diet based on fresh fruit and vegetables.
In addition, the distribution of 200 food packages to fragile families continued and, in collaboration with the Municipality of Siena, the Caritas volunteers above all assisted users in the composition of applications for shopping vouchers, rent contributions and for emergency accommodation.
Also important are the emergency interventions for the payment of bills and rent installments for 35 families for a total cost of 9,831 euros.
On the subject of hospitality, 6 evicted people and 4 families with uninhabitable homes were welcomed. Particular attention also to the female universe with the welcome of a woman in pink code and another at the end of the path to which a definitive accommodation was guaranteed.
Even for a homeless woman with serious health problems, a certain path to hospitalization has been created with the social services.
But the activity of Caritas in this context was not limited only to assistance, but with the funds of 8xMille, three work grants were made available for women who had difficulty in entering the workplace.
On the reception side: support for the family of little Mustafa continues in view of the transfer to Budrio; thanks to the synergy with the AOS, hospital visits to disabled Ukrainian children hosted in Montarioso with their mothers are continuous and in the next few days they will be taken to the sea for a few days of vacation.
In addition, Caritas has always taken part in the tables in the Prefecture where the health problem and the night placement of young Pakistani who turn to the Siena Police Headquarters for the recognition of refugee status has been given priority. Thanks to this synergy, it was obtained, since last week in collaboration with the district of the area, that in charge of primary care, Dr. Francesca Leoncini could visit them at the canteen to evaluate the most serious cases. To date there have been several visits with some being sent to the hospital for more in-depth investigations and hospitalizations. Eight of them, discharged from the hospital, with particular pathologies were hosted in the Tolfe pending entry into the Cas.
