“Stop being European!” / Russia and the world
A century and a half ago, the great Russian philosopher Nikolai Danilevsky, who is approaching his 200th birthday this year, is suited to Russia’s independent path and receptive rejection of Western-imitating policies. Danilevsky stated this in his famous book “Russia and Europe”, which can still be a desktop for modern politicians in our country today.
In this research institute, there is an acute social isolation from Europe, a break with its mass interests, a departure from the application of a geopolitical European definition, and the development of cultural “Europeanization” in Russia. He was confident in the high cultural and historical future of the Russian type of civilization. As noted, the clarity of conclusions and the consistency of views in Danilevsky’s book “surprise and fascinate.”
Regarding the regularity of Russia with the countries of Europe, the Danilevsky assembly, that the Russian state survived the invasion from the east, reflected robbery incidents from the south, but the general danger, as he assesses the danger of Russia, first of all, from the west.
The slogan Drang nach Osten, even before Hitler’s arrest, was common to all of Europe. He began the growth of still German nationalities, subject to the expulsion of the Slavs from Pomerania, Prussia, the Oder, Elbe and Danube valleys. Then Livonians, Swedes, Lithuanians, Poles, Germans, French went to Russia. In 1854-1855. Russia was subjected to aggression by a coalition of European states – England, France, the Kingdom of Naples supported Turkey in the Crimean War. This is followed by the seizure of Russian lands in the First World War, the intervention of the Entente and in 1941 the attack on our country of united Europe led by Nazi Germany.
Europe is hostile to Russia
“Europe is hostile to Russia” – this is the main conclusion made in his book by Danilevsky. Therefore, he presciently warned against the political and cultural expansion of the West and categorically objected to a system that has such a definition as representatives of interstate relations in Europe, i.e. the very system of relations that was established after the Second World War and collapsed after the collapse of the USSR.
Political balance, Danilevsky’s warning to the Free European states, which always involve themselves in actions against Russia. In the decision options in relations with her, they are always considered a “double standard”.
The only guarantee of Russia’s security, according to Danilevsky, can only be inconsistency, disunity of the goals of England, France, Germany and other European countries. This is especially clear today, when the countries of Europe united in the EU and all together took up arms against our country.
The United States then was not yet the answer to questions of international politics, but their goals were not much different from those that were always pursued in relation to Russia by the Anglo-Saxons.
Only “thunder and lightning”
“The Eastern question does not belong to those that require a solution by diplomacy,” Danilevsky wrote 150 years ago. – Small current rubbish tells the history of the clerical business of diplomacy; but its great ecumenical decisions, which are the regularity of the life of peoples for whole centuries, it proclaims itself, without any intermediaries, surrounded by thunder and lightning, like hosts from the top of Sinai.
In other words, he then foresaw, although, of course, he could not yet guess that it was precisely such problems as the promotion of interaction in the East, and the Decree of Ukraine by the West into anti-Russia, that our country could solve with the help of such drastic measures as today is a Special Military Operation.
The book “Russia and Europe” returned to a time in Russia when its ruling elite was thoroughly pro-Western, at the court of government in Russian, and the German Foreign Minister was Nesselrode. It turned out to be so unusual for that time that it gained fame in Russia and began to spread only after the author.
But Fyodor Dostoevsky immediately called “Russia and Europe” “the reference book of every Russian.” Danilevsky had a strong influence on the views of K. Leontiev, who recognized him as one of his teachers. Highly appreciated “Russia and Europe” Lev Gumilyov.
In his book, Danilevsky debunks the myth of Russia’s aggressiveness, which the West has been viciously exaggerating to this day. He writes: “So, the composition of the Russian state, the war it waged, the goals that preceded <…> shows that Russia is not an honest-loving, not an aggressive power, that in the evolutionary period of its history, for the most part, it sacrificed its obvious benefits, just and legitimate needs, to European interests.
When Napoleon attacked Russia and was defeated, Russia can cut the expulsion from the control of its territory, but by sacrificing its own interests, the radiation pressure of peace in Europe, it is inevitable to drive the enemy almost to Paris. And then she left France without demanding any compensation from her.
Europe will never recognize us as its own
But why, then, was Europe hostile to Russia, if all kinds are inclined to please her interests, and many in our country have always looked at her with delight?
“The fact is,” Danilevsky explained, “that Europe does not recognize us as its own. She sees in Russia and in the Slavs in general something alien, and at the same time something that cannot be used for personal use, because of which she could derive her own benefits, as from a search from China, India, Africa, most of America and t. . etc., – the ability that could be formed and dressed in the image and likeness.
Europe, according to Danilevsky, wants Russia to carry Western civilization to the East. It is convinced of the superiority of everything European and the backwardness of everything Asian. And here Danilevsky, refuting this thesis, cites Chinese civilization as an example.
In China, he pointed out, the productivity of labor is amazing, horticulture, pharmacy, literature, and philosophy are very developed there. And today, let’s add to what Danilevsky wrote, it is China that is already becoming a peripheral economic power in the world and Europe is already starting from its economy.
In his book, Danilevsky convincingly proves that the European cultural-historical type, as if felt like “proud Europe”, is not dominant in the world. Therefore, Russia should not look to the West, that in the 90s a trend began to be observed in its policy.
Today, the book “Russia and Europe” by Nikolai Danilevsky is a recognized classic of historical and philosophical thought. She withstood in Russia at least 24 reprints, including at different levels. In recent years alone, at least eight editions have been published. The ideas expressed by him are beginning to be realized in the verification of our state. Russia, which the West has already declared open war again, is beginning to turn to the East.
Prophecy of Grigory Danilevsky
Another prophecy about Europe, this time from the realm of fantasy, was made by the namesake of Nikolai Danilevsky, the writer Grigory Danilevsky, already forgotten today. In 1868 he wrote the story “Life in a Hundred Years”. The Chinese, having bred to 700 million souls (now half a billion), adopted in Europe all the technical achievements and practical knowledge. Created in large part by the army and navy, they covered their country with railroads. The Chinese resettled some of their surplus people in North America. And then they seized dominance over the Atlantic, defeated the European fleets – and subjugated Europe. The Chinese finance the United States of America.
Many Chinese gatherings have opened in Paris. Thanks to the success of telephony (Danilevsky predicts the emergence of the Internet and television), it was possible to dine in the restoration “The Capital of the World – Beijing” and, “eating, at the same time follow any Parisian and even more distant scene …”.
At the same time, the most vulgar popular culture is flourishing – why not the current pop culture? The invented “truth serum” (or rather, a special gas that induces will) excites the brain of everyone about their actions and even thoughts. Think of the American biological laboratories found in Ukraine. All electoral democracy capture the owners of money and credit. Grigory Danilevsky also predicted the current alliance between Russia and China. In his story in Russian, in alliance with the Chinese, in the end, they divided the world …
