Reactions, Yuri Guaiana
“The announced Europride ban is unjustifiablewhereas the Serbian Constitutional Court declared the ban on Pride in Serbia in 2011, 2012 and 2013 unconstitutional – declares Yuri Guaiana, leader of + Europe in the Chamber of Deputies in the colleges of Bergamo and Treviso -. As a candidate country for membership of the European Union, Serbia should show greater respect for European values and human rights, such as freedom of peaceful assembly and association “.
“During the candidacy process for the Europride 2022 – underlines Yuri Guaiana – the Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic, a declared lesbian and just reconfirmed by President Vucic, has promised full support from the Serbian government to the EuroPride in Belgrade, we expect that this promise come. We will contact you immediately Movement of Free Citizens (Serbian liberal party) to offer our support “, concludes the leader of + Europe in the Chamber of Deputies in the Bergamo and Treviso colleges.
Marilena Grassadonia
“The news of the cancellation of Europride given by Serbian President Vucic is very serious”. He declares it Marilena Grassadonia, rights manager of the secretariat of the Italian Left and candidate to the Chamber for the Green and Left Alliance in Rome and list leader in Palermo, Messina and Enna. “IS unacceptable that in 2022 the government of a European country cancels a regular authorized demonstration like the Europride of Belgrade motivating the decision with “pressure from far-right parties and from representatives of the Orthodox Church. See President Aleksandar Vucic give in to pressure received, it means that he thinks like them. It is a very serious act that paves the way for the spread of intolerance and homolesbobitransphobia “. “The Euro Pride associations know that they have no intention of canceling the event that includes, beyond the final parade, – the candidacy emphasizes -. We are with them and with the whole lgbtqia + community. We do not allow homopholesbobitransphobic and reactionary governments to decide on our lives, neither in Italy nor in Europe ”. “On the rights we do not retreat an inch – she concludes – We will not give respite to those who try to limit the lives of LGBTQ people +”.
