9-euro ticket: Hamburg Senator “very irritated” about Berlin
The federal and state governments have been discussing a successor solution to the popular 9-euro ticket for weeks. Now Berlin has pushed ahead and is receiving criticism for it. Hamburg’s Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD) is also “very irritated” by the Berlin solution.
Berlin will offer a connection solution for the 9-euro ticket from October 1st, managed from state funds. This is evident from several media reports. However, the ticket owner could only travel in Berlin, not in Brandenburg, and no longer nationwide. How much the local ticket WILL cost is yet to be seen. There is already resistance to this move.
9-euro ticket: Berlin goes it alone
Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) said “Märkisches Oderzeitung”, a nationwide, attractive and seriously organized model had to be found that would work for non-city states as well as for city states.

Transport Minister Guido Beermann (CDU) was also irritated, he did not think going it alone made sense, he said “Potsdam Latest News”.
Hamburg finance senator with criticism of Berlin
Hamburg’s finance senator obviously has nothing to gain from the advance of the Berliners. He finds “Berlin’s actions are very irritating, the federal states should continue to pull together here,” Dressel tweeted on Saturday. “How many euros does Berlin get from the financial equalization of the federal states?” he wrote with a wink.
Obviously an allusion to the fact that Berlin received the largest sum from the state financial equalization in 2021 with around 3.6 billion euros. Hamburg was one of the donor countries and had to give around 230 million to the other countries.
Heike Sudmann, traffic policy spokeswoman for the left-wing faction, said on Saturday that the people of Hamburg also deserved that “the Senate no longer stood idly by and watched the tragedy in the federal government”. It was therefore necessary to check immediately how the 9-euro ticket in the HVV could be extended until the end of the year. The left-wing faction had already made corresponding demands in the citizenship at the end of June. (Abu)
