About a hundred people demonstrated quietly and peacefully on Sunday afternoon on Charles Bridge in Prague. The goal of the protest was to point to companies that have not yet suspended their activities in Russia. According to the participants we spoke to, these actions are sponsoring the war.
The logos of the companies were underlined in red. It also appeared under the eyes of those holding banners.
The event, at which PrahaIN.cz is present from the very beginning, takes place without any relevant problems.
The logos that appeared on the memorial site of the metropolis are very resounding. These are, for example, Lacoste, Kotányi, Zepter, the network of Mol gas stations, Emirates and Turkish Airlines. But also branded clothing from Diesel, New Yorker and Unicredit Bank.
“Why is it important for Western companies to leave Russia? The pressure will help stop Russian aggression, as much as 40 percent of the Russian economy was made up of foreign companies,” reads one of the banners.
Demonstrators stand in a long line, each holding a banner. A boycott sign also appeared in several cases.
The French company Bonduelle continues to operate in Russia.
The event started around 18:00 and a number of passers-by, which was noticeable, had no idea about many companies “from Russia”. “No, no, I didn’t know, Zepter…” commented Hana Morávková, who went to Prague Castle from Příbram with her family.
The PrahaIN.cz reporter remains in place.
The anthem of Ukraine is sung.
