“The probability that we will form a coalition with STAN, Pirates or Praha Sobě is much smaller than that I will fly to Mars tomorrow,” says Sláma

Not only in the metropolis, but also in other cities and towns, a new alliance is being formed as part of the upcoming municipal elections, which wants to be an alternative both to the current government coalition of five and to the previous government set represented by the rule of Andrej Babiš. At least that is how some commentators perceive the very close cooperation between the SPD and Trikolora, which created joint candidate lists in many cities. The capital city of Prague is no exception, which we talked about with the vice-chairman of Trikolora and candidate for the Prague City Council, Josef Sláma.
So far, the tricolor has been more prominent on national topics. This year, you are entering the municipal elections for the first time. What do you want to impress your voters?
A clearly defined, comprehensible program, with which quite a few residents of the given locality are sure to agree. Our candidates live in the place, they know the problems and their solutions. Trikolora tries to give its representatives free hands and a certain autonomy. Communal politics is primarily about life in individual municipalities.

Trikolora created joint candidates with the SPD not only in Prague. What led you to this particular collaboration?
The situation in our cities is not exactly excellent, so our responsibility towards people and the willingness to come to an agreement led us to this. Of course, it is no secret that the Trikolora and the SPD have a similar position on many topics, and the political proximity of these entities was certainly not harmful and contributed to a rational agreement.
voters the fact that the Trikolora SPD parties are running together in places, such as the fact that there is much closer political cooperation between these parties?

Babiš’s opponents have the right to disturb the shouts or do they have a stronger form of his meeting?

I think so. Look, in the past many words were said on both sides that did not contribute to good cooperation or correct relations. But all this in the situation we are in, at a time when there is a threat of a social decline in the standard of living of the majority of the population and it is recommended that the politician be put aside. Both political entities and their representatives demonstrated political maturity and responsibility. Fragmentation of forces and frog wars lead to nothing, and in the end the citizen is not very curious about them. An agreement and a positive solution, that is what we will go to the elections with.
Three dozen female candidates are vying for the voters’ trust in Prague. What do you plan to do to ensure that your candidate does not fall into such strong competition?
The advantage is that we are clearly defined political parties that have an ideological and thought charge, that are readable and understandable positions, that it is not an association for prettier flowers in the square. Of course, we have to be seen and heard, to prove that the solutions we offer are in the interest of the people of Prague and their needs.
If you had to list three main topics that you want to focus on during the election campaign, what would they be?
So, at the Prague-wide level, it will certainly be the current situation and its solution. Be patient and let yourself be surprised. Believe that these will be absolutely concrete proposals with a huge benefit to the citizens of Prague. As for the district of Prague 3, I must say that my main point is that the district must be a welcoming place to live, where young families can find a kindergarten for the little ones, a quality education in primary education and a place to use their free time, where people will not be afraid to go out on the street at night, where transport is working, where it will be possible to grow old in peace and live a dignified old age, where quality health and social care will be available.

If I ask the opposite, what will the voters not expect from you if you win their trust and sit on the council of the capital?
My vote will certainly not be given to all possible decrees that do not solve anything, they only make the life of decent and blameless citizens more unpleasant with their bullying character. I will never support wasting funds on everything possible, such as Prague Pride and similar events. I will not support activism in the foreign policy of the metropolis, nor will I support the silly renaming of streets.
The Dosimeter case is a big scar on the serving Prague government. What do you plan to do to prevent similar scandals from happening again in Prague?
The dosimeter has two levels. One is a systemic matter, the other is a personnel matter. There is no belt system. By setting the parameters, you certainly reduce the possibilities of such behavior, thereby decreasing the probability of its occurrence, but of course it is not 100% excluded. So a fair approach is to state that we will reduce the likelihood of such behavior. The same applies to personnel. A certain political or professional past tells you a lot and carries a very significant telling value about the person in question. So, hand in hand, good staffing and a rational, transparent management system lead to the reduction or let’s say suppression of these negative social phenomena, which in turn cast a bad light on politics and politics as a whole.
I understand that hares are counted only after the hunt, but with whom can you imagine post-election cooperation, and with whom do you rather rule it out for the moment?
In the nineties of the last century, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Chairman of the KDU-ČSL Josef Lux beautifully stated that coalitions are formed only after the elections. I’ll answer anyway. We’ll stick with that definition, and I really like the degree of probability. The fact that we make a coalition with STAN, Pirates or Praha Sobě is much less likely than that I will fly to Mars tomorrow.
