Iran sent its response to the draft Vienna agreement
Iran sent its response to the “final document” drawn up in Vienna by the European Union to save the 2015 agreement on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (Jcpoa, the agreement on Iranian nuclear power). It is with regard to the Iranian news agency “Irna”, according to which “Iran has submitted its written response to a draft of the Vienna agreement and has announced that an agreement will be reached if the United States responds with realism and flexibility. “. “The differences concern three points: on two of them the United States has verbally its flexibility, but all this should also be included in the text”, we read in “Irna” who does not add further details. “The third issue has to do with ensuring that the agreement is lasting, and this depends on the realism of the United States to reassure Iran,” the Iranian news agency reported. After several months of stalemate, on 4 August the EU-sponsored activities resumed in the Austrian capital, aimed at trying to save the international agreement concluded in 2015 between Iran and the United States, United Kingdom, China, France, Germany and Russia. The agreement aimed to ensure the civilian nature of Iran’s nuclear program, but after the unilateral withdrawal of the United States in 2018 – an initiative of the then President Donald Trump – and the restoration of sanctions, the authorities in Tehran gradually came less to their commitments.
