JDA Dijon Handball wins the Saint-Gall tournament
The players of the JDA Dijon Handball are preparing for their comeback; Before the start of the 2022/2023 Butagaz Energy League season, nothing like a series of victories to build confidence!
After a very good victory against Chambray (41-36) on August 9 for their first preparation meeting, our players took part in a friendly tournament against 3 other professional formations, on Swiss soil. How important preparation matches to start the next season 2022-2023!
A very good first game
The Dijonnaises started the tournament on Friday August 12 against the LC Brühl team, 3rd in the last Swiss championship. Despite this impressive track record, Christophe Mazel’s daughters have shown themselves to be valiant, diligent and described. Final score: victory, 29 to 26.
A tighter second game
The second match opposed Dijon to the German team of Metzingen, Saturday 13. While the first period went off without a hitch, the second period was marked by the start of the opposing team, although a little late . Thanks to many precise shots and very nice counter-attacks, Carmen Campos and her team dominated to win 33-29.
An even tighter last game…
Last match of the tournament Sunday 14 afternoon: the JDA met the Ringkobing team from Denmark. Complicated first half for our players but they were able to win by one point at the break. Second half of the same caliber, elbow-to-elbow score until the end. Fortunately, and without letting go, the JDA Dijon Handball ended up winning 24 to 23, in the very last seconds of the game.
The coach delighted and proud of his team.
“3 victories, in terms of results we can only be satisfied and also in terms of content. (…) That’s a lot of positive confidence-wise.. It’s good when you’re working on a new project to see that the results follow quite quickly, it encourages you to persevere because you still have work to do but you’re making good progress. commented Christophe Mazel after the tournament.
A few preparation matches to come before the start of the season.
Other preparation matches are planned, notably on August 19 and 20, against Noisy (D2) and Stella Saint-Maur (D2). The matches will take place in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, in the Paris region.
Last series on August 26 and 27, with the preparation tournament against Besançon (LBE), Fleury (D2) and Saint-Amand (LBE), in Burgundy in Auxerre.
