The rainbow pride parade of sexual minorities has arrived at Prague’s Letná. The first participants arrived around 2:15 p.m. Another thousands of people, who attended the Saturday event, then went up to Letná within about an hour. The procession was accompanied by music, dancing and cheers and applause, watched by passers-by. At Letná, a musical program awaits event participants until the evening. According to police estimates, up to 600 people participated in the march of 1,000 people.

The event took place without complications or incidents. “We have not recorded any disturbance of public order or other problems,” said Prague police spokesman Jan Rybanský.
On the way from Wenceslas Square, the procession passed through Old Town Square, where its participants took pictures of tourists. According to the ČTK reporter, a peaceful atmosphere prevailed in the parade for a while, and all its participants did not encounter significant protests against the event.
Along the way along Na Příkopě street, the participants of the procession met several men who recited biblical quotations and talked about sin in connection with the procession. However, they did not meet the response of its participants.
The parade was mainly decorated with rainbow flags of all sizes, from those painted on the face to large flags in which people cover their entire bodies. The flag with the colors of the rainbow was previously also used as a symbol of pacifism, since the 1970s it has been perceived as a universal gay and lesbian symbol. In the following decades, she established herself as a widely known and accepted symbol of the LGBT movement.

People of different generations, including parents with children, took part in the march. At the Faculty of Law of Charles University, which provided the organizers with a balcony from which people could greet and observe the procession, other participants joined the march.
One of the participants of the event, Sebastian from Prague, said that he is going for the second time. “I like the company of those people. Because the people are nice, there is such a relaxed atmosphere,” he said. Deputy Eliška also highlighted the positive energy of the event. “He fights for the right thing,” she said.
On Letná, refreshments were waiting for the participants of the parade, in Letnské sady and on the plain there will be a musical and accompanying program on six stages until the evening. For example, Tom Auspaul, Girli or the band We Are Domi will perform.
The rainbow parade of people expressing tolerance and support for sexual minorities and their right to self-determination was the highlight of the week-long pride festival of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans- and queer people (LGBT+) Prague Pride.
Prague Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) and his wife also walked in the first rows of the parade. The rainbow parade was without allegorical cars this year, which the organizers justified by emphasizing sustainability.
The parade was held for the first time since 2019, it did not take place in the previous two years due to the covid-19 pandemic.
