Russia resumed gas supplies to Latvia
The Russian Gazprom has resumed gas supplies to Latvia, follows from the security data of the network of gas transmission systems (Enzog) and Conexus Baltic Network. According to “RIA News”, Latvia began to receive Russian gas from 5 August. Deliveries were stopped on July 30 due to “violation of the conditions for gas withdrawal.”
Approximately 4 million cubic meters are consumed through the Luhamaa gas measuring station. m of gas per day, despite the fact that only Russian gas can go through it.
On March 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the recalculation of the amount of gas consumed in “unfriendly” countries into rubles. The authorities refused for gas from Russia in rubles. According to Entsog data, after gas through the Luhamaa point this one is not produced all April. Periodically, gas was produced through this point in May, and the last time – at the end of July.
In June, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins said that his country did not intend to resume Russian gas imports. It became known that the main operator of the gas transmission system of Latvia Latvijasgaz buys Russian gas through an intermediary. Payments for gas are accepted in euros. In 2021, approximately 90% of Latvian gas imports went to Russia.
