Handball: Baptiste Bonnefond joins Fenix Toulouse
Left-back Baptiste Bonnefond, who finished his season at Nîmes, has joined the Toulouse club for next season. The former Montpellier and Aixois will strengthen the Toulouse rear base.
After the formalization last March of the arrivals of goalkeeper Teodor Paul (34, Nîmes) and defender and left-back Bakary Diallo (27, Vardar Skopje / MCD), Fenix Toulouse will have a new recruit resumed on July 21. The Toulouse club has just signed for a season the left-back Baptiste Bonnefond (29 years old, 1m93, 97 kg) who has been playing since March in Nîmes. Trained in Villeurbanne, revealed in Montpellier where he played between 2011 and 2019, a club with which he was crowned French champion in 2011 and 2012 but also winner of the Champions League in 2018, Baptiste Bonnefond also enjoyed the honors of the France team where he has a selection (in 2015 against Denmark during the Golden League).
Then left for Aix (2019 to 2021), he joined Le Meshkov Brest in Belarus at the start of the season. But with the war in Ukraine, he left Belarus to join France in March where Nîmes welcomed him to end the season there (8 matches, 16 goals). Free, in search of a European club, he finally reached an agreement with the Toulouse formation which sought to strengthen its rear base with the injury of left-hander Matthieu Marmier (rupture of the ligaments of the left knee) whose return to competition did not is scheduled for February 2023.
