A torchlight march in Toulouse to keep the flame of mobilization going
Keep up the pressure against the government bill. A torchlight march against the pension reform was organized Thursday evening in Toulouse at the call of the Solidaires union. More than a thousand people on the parade from Matabiau station to Jean Jaurès before the next big day of mobilization scheduled for Tuesday.
It’s another way to pursue the challenge for people who can’t strike, explains Lise Dreuhet. This accountant at the Department is also the spokesperson for the Sud-CT 31 union, a union affiliated with Solidaires. “It’s a rally with more torches. It’s pretty but it’s above all an opportunity for people who can’t go on strike or demonstrate to participate when they leave work.”
A point of view shared by Arthur. He is 38 years old. He is a temporary worker and works in the hotel and catering industry. And for him it is also an additional appointment to request the withdrawal of the reform. “The atmosphere is different. It’s exciting to meet at night. But we also understand the mobilization to convince that we can prevent this reform.”
Growing opposition and support for mobilization
According to a latest Ipsos Sopra Steria poll conducted for France Info and France Television on February 1 and 2 and published on Thursday, 64% of French people say they “opposed” to the pension reform. A figure up three points compared to the last survey carried out last January. Furthermore, the support for the mobilization against the government project jumps. About 7 out of 10 people questioned “support” the mobilizations (72%, +7 points) and the strikes (69%, +10 points).
