Veselý defeated Vadlejch at the Czech Championships, Špotáková won the fifteenth title
Hodonín – The local native Vítězslav Veselý emerged victorious from the duel of Olympic medalists in javelin throwing at the Republic Championships in Hodonín. The owner of the bronze from last year’s games in Tokyo threw 80 meters the most for the first time and thanks to the performance of 85.97 he defeated this year’s home number one Jakub Vadlejch (83.72). Barbora Špotáková won the fifteenth title among spearmen.
After the first two attempts, Veselý escaped in the competition with a throw to a distance of 82.07. In the next series, he improved to 83.12 and then added the longest throw of the day. It was his best attempt since 2015. “I don’t know what I deserved, that I’m still experiencing something like that. It’s just amazing and you can’t think of it in your head. I’m moved, it’s beautiful,” said the 39-year-old spearman.
Silver Olympic medalist Vadlejch, who threw for 90 meters in Doha for the first time in his career this year, today exceeded five meters five times, but had to settle for second place behind his colleague from Prague’s Dukla.
The women’s javelin competition was won by the world record holder Špotáková, who improved the seasonal maximum to 60.90 meters with a single attempt. “I mainly enjoyed the audience. The race didn’t work out for me, but one throw I enjoyed was enough. It starts with a sixth, fifteenth title, so great,” said the two-time Olympic winner.
No other spearman got over 60 meters. He won the silver, Nikol Tabačková won, who improved her personal to 59.06 meters and defeated Nikola Ogrodníková. The reigning European vice-champion, as at the Diamond League in Paris, was worried and recorded only 57.48 meters.
Matěj Krsek became the national champion in the 400 meter run in the championship record of 45.55. At the same time, he met the limit for participation in the European Championships. He found out a few minutes after the run. Time exceeded his expectations. “I thought I would be terribly happy when it was under 46, but I wasn’t entirely sure about that either,” he said.
The favorite Patrik Šorm finished second in 45.86 and the bronze was won by the Czech record holder Pavel Maslák, who had only recently returned to the race after an injury. With a time of 46.05, he ran the best performance in between.
Among women, Lada Vondrová improved her personal record to 51.13 by a hundredth. I had a bit of a contradictory feeling. “I wanted to be under 51. It occurred to me that it worked for me in the end. I think that if I run the first 200 a bit, it will be under those 51,” she said. Defending champion Barbora Malíková did not finish the final.
The first start after an ankle injury was completed by the bowler Tomáš Staněk. 20.76 meters was enough for his seventh title. After three attempts, he preferred to withdraw from the competition. “The race showed me that my ankle is holding. Unfortunately, I had to hold my head because you want to keep throwing, you want to get over those 21. I can’t go into it all the time, especially in the middle, because I can’t get out of it yet. those meters, “he said.
Filip Sasínek, a representative of the home club, clearly won the 15th. “It was a big responsibility. Firstly, I have the best time in the tables, it’s at home, I needed to fight for the World Cup, which is now closing. It worked,” he rejoiced after the race, in which he finished in 3: 38.06. This is more than three seconds behind the sharp limit for the World Cup, but it means a large influx of points into the world rankings.
Radek Juška won the record eighth title in the long jump. This time he attacked the eight-meter limit in vain, winning the performance of 795 centimeters.
