VILLENEUVE-LEZ-AVIGNON At Les Cardinales, a tenant shares an additional room with his neighbor
Grand Delta Habitat, the leading social housing cooperative in France, is adapting to new challenges related to housing. The lessor has chosen its new residence in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon Les Cardinales, located on Avenue du Général Leclerc, to test its first two Modul’A® apartments.
What is it about ? These are two apartments that share a furnished room of 9m2 modular. One week, it is occupied by the residents of the first apartment and the following week, by those of the 2nd and so on. The system is governed by a digicode which locks access to other tenants when the room is occupied by the first. ” This device is a first test. There is a real reflection to be carried out at a time when the SRU law is more and more restrictive, when we talk about densification, zero artificialisation. These concomitant apartments make it possible to optimize space. They also meet the needs of divorced parents who see their children every other week.», contextualizes the mayor of Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, Pascale Bories.
Especially since today 25% of tenants are single parents and just as many are over 60, this phenomenology must be taken into account“recalls Michel Gontard, president of Grand Delta Habitat. He pursues : ” This new shared model corresponds to the evolution of the family, to the challenge of keeping the elderly at home and is perhaps a response to teleworking. It’s also practical for occasionally receiving friends, especially during the festival period, which is very popular with visitors.
A new 48-unit residence
In order to benefit from this Modul’A® room, the two tenant households pay an additional €29 per month. On the other hand, they are freed from the distribution by week. ” We text each other when we receive a friend. We clean up when he leaves and the room is ready again. But we get along so well that we take advantage of this airlock to see each other and have a good time.“, jokes Jérôme, who has become very friendly with his neighbor, Isabelle, thanks to this system. Both have been living since the end of January in the Villeneuvoise residence.
More generally, Les Cardinalices is an operation of 48 apartments divided into three buildings, ranging from T2 to T4. The residence also has 60 parking spaces, including three for people with reduced mobility. It should be noted that the attic of the three buildings is tile red, a detail recalling the industrial past of the site, where the last Villeneuve brickworks stood.
The construction of the residence cost €7,146,070
. Today, nearly 270 housing units are offered by Grand Delta Habitat in the municipalities of Villeneuve-lez-Avignon and Les Angles. 120 housing units should soon complete the stock of these two municipalities as well as those of Rochefort-du-Gard and Aramon.
