Italy’s record jewel Wilfried Gnonto on Olympique Lyon?
Wilfried Gnonto and the Italian national team lost 5-2 to Germany on matchday 4 of the Nations League. The attacker will probably still have good memories of the game. Gnonto scored his debut goal and is now the youngest goalscorer in the history of Italy.
After a strong season with FC Zurich, which was crowned by winning the Swiss championship, Gnonto already has many admirers. His record goal shouldn’t actually shorten the queue of interested parties.
According to the Blick newspaper, 1899 Hoffenheim have now withdrawn from the race for the 18-year-old. The reason: Zurich calls for a double-digit million transfer fee. Too much for TSG.
However, Olympique Lyon are said to be still interested in the newly crowned Italy international – as is Serie A side Sassuolo. Gnonto has a contract in Zurich until 2023.
The attacker moved to Switzerland from Inter Milan’s offspring in 2020. According to Italian media reports, the 13-time champion had to pay training compensation of almost 200,000 euros.
