Denmark must mark against Qatar World Cup – funds for European support
According to the news agency Ritzau, the football director of DBU, Peter Møller, says that it will be a mark on the players’ training clothes. He is pleased with the statement to England captain Harry Kane, who has been in dialogue with Christian Eriksen and French national team goalkeeper Hugo Lloris about the same.
– I think that is very good. We even put it into action when we agreed with our partners to remove logos from training jerseys to make room for a message when we are down there (in Qatar). The players have supported this, says Møller.
– We have told the players that we prefer to get with other federations. Among other things, I have contacted Oliver Bierhoff (technical director of the German national team), and Eriksen has spoken with Kane and Lloris, Møller continues.
Tottenham star Kane few more countries go together.
– When we make a decision about something we want to do, we will of course announce it. I think it will be important to do it together. I feel it will express an attitude, with more force, Kane said according to Reuters.
– Stands stronger when we are more
The community is also important to DBUs Møller, but not crucial.
– Together with the players, we are the only ones that we must have as many European countries as possible that front a message in Qatar. We are stronger when we are more, but if others do not join, we do something ourselves, he says.
13 European countries will take part in the World Cup finals in the desert state in November and December. Møller is unsure where the breeding selection can be during the championship.
– I do not know. We have been holding on for a while, and I can state that the debate is not as big a place everywhere as in Denmark. I can not take responsibility for what other unions choose to do. For me, it is important that we do something, says the director.
Criticism
– The dialogue takes place at the very highest level, and I do not know how many unions Jakob Jensen (DBU director) has been in contact with, says Møller.
Qatar has received criticism from several teams, not just because of the award, but the country’s multiple human rights violations. Homosexuality is illegal in Qatar. Criticism has also been leveled at the working conditions of migrant workers in the World Cup country.
The World Cup will be played from 21 November to 18 December.
