HAON – He remembered Debrecen with an uplifting show
“We commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Trianon Peace Treaty, which has fundamentally determined the fate and lives of Hungary to this day,” said Deputy Mayor Ákos Balázs at the Hungarian Pain Statue early Saturday night.
The commemoration of the local government of Debrecen began in the morning with the raising of the national flag, then lowering it to half a mast in Kossuth Square, and then the Debrecen Folk Ensemble and the Judging Orchestra gave a festive program in Dósa Nádor Square. From here they marched to the monument on Bem Square, where several organizations placed their wreaths. Those present were able to see the program with the participation of the Frokzs Erdős Csokonai Prize-winning singer, the Beregszász Theater Foundation, the artists of the Szigliget Theater in Oradea and the Csokonai Theater, and the Debrecen Local Police Orchestra.
In his speech, the deputy mayor emphasized: “Trianon can become a real history, it will be a part of the past if the protection of minorities becomes a practice everywhere. The position that collective minority rights, freedoms and democracy are mutually reinforcing must be firmly taken in all possible fora. We cannot talk about real democracy where the rights of indigenous minorities in Europe are not demanded with sufficient determination. ”
