Charity match on June 4 in Calais against the legends of RC Lens

This Saturday, at the Stade de l’Epopée in Calais, the Variétés Club de France will face the legends of RC Lens during a gala match for the benefit of the association “La Chance aux Enfants”, sponsored by Gervais Martel. .
The Variétés Club de France continues its tour of charity matches. The team led by Jacques Vendroux has an appointment this Saturday in Calais to face the legends of RC Lens. This meeting, played on the lawn of the Stade de l’Epopée, will also be an opportunity to raise funds for the association dear to the heart of the former leader of RCL Gervais Martel, “La Chance aux Enfants”, founded in March 2000, one of the objectives of which is to allow children to be able to attend sporting events, including the next Olympic Games, organized in Paris in 2024. For this cause, the Variétés Club de France will field a team in which players such as Christian Karembeu, Laurent Blanc, Robert Pirès, Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Wilfrid Mbappé, Mathieu Bodmer, Benoît Cheyrou, Clément Chantôme, Christophe Jallet or even Frédéric Piquionne.
A tribute to Leclercq, Foé and Diop
The Racing Club de Lens, emblematic club of the region, will be represented in particular by the players who won the title of champion of France in 1998. Guillaume Warmuz, Jean-Guy Wallemme, Frédéric Déhu, Vladimir Smicer, Daniel Moreira, Aruna Dindane or even Eric Sikora are expected on the Calais lawn to wear the Sang-et-Or colors once again. This gala match will also be an opportunity to pay tribute to three personalities who marked the history of RC Lens: the 1998 French champion coach Daniel Leclercq, Marc-Vivien Foé, who died in the middle of a match during the Confederations Cup in 2003, but also Papa Bouba Diop, who left us in 2020. The kick-off of the meeting, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. this Saturday, will be given by a very big name in French football, Marius Trésor.
