Benefit concert Uni4Ukraine successful – University of Innsbruck
In mid-May, the Great Hall of the Hofburg was the worthy setting for an evening dedicated to helping Ukraine. Through ticket sales and donations, a total of €11,561.11 was collected with the benefit concert Uni4Ukraine. This amount will now go to the “Help for Ukraine” campaign by Neighbor in Need and to the Karasin University in Kharkiv, which is connected to the University of Innsbruck via the European university network Aurora.
In cooperation with the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine, the University of Innsbruck organized the benefit concert Uni4Ukraine. The Ukrainian violinist Mariya Nesterovska, her husband, the Austrian bassoonist Hubert Mittermayer Nesterovskiy and the star harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani offered the visitors a virtuosic and contrasting concert program alternating between baroque and contemporary compositions.
“We would like to thank the artists who intended this concert and who completely waived their honorary doctorate for the aid to Ukraine, as well as the Burghauptmannschaft Österreich for letting the Riesensaal rent-free. It was only through the cooperation of many dedicated people and institutions that we were able to generate this five-digit sum for Ukraine,” says Juliane Mayer, who works at the university’s transfer office and organizer of the benefit concert.
€5,000.00 of the donation sum goes directly to the Karasin University in Kharkiv and €6,561.11 to the “Help for Ukraine” campaign by neighbors in need.
