Sports, Jevnaker Table Tennis Club | Jevnaker Table Tennis Club on a trip to Denmark: Two class victories
The North Sea Cup was canceled in 2020 and 2021, but this year’s edition was the ninth with participation from the Hadeland club.
JBTK’s annual club tour gathered 14 members; ten practitioners and four supporters. Thanks to Fjordkraft’s fulfillment of the club’s application for financial support, Jevnaker BTK covered travel and accommodation for all members under the age of 23 – and the starting quotas for all participants.
It was the club’s youngest performers who delivered the best results.
Jonas Jensen is Jevnaker BTK’s only real top athlete. He trains seriously and purposefully every single day – in and outside the table tennis hall. The 19-year-old plays for JBTK’s elite league team and has made steady progress in recent years.
The electrical apprentice at Demas AS at Eggemoen is also a coach for the club’s adults and younger athletes.
In Hirtshals Idrætscenter, Jonas took gold in Men’s 2 – the third best senior class. Jonas started by beating his three opponents in the leading pool game. Then followed up with a victory in the quarter and semifinals, before he won the final with 3-2 in sets against Michael Lauridsen from the organizing club B75.
22 players participated in Men 2.
Ervin Georg Egelandsdal is the JBTK player who has collected the most points in the Norwegian ranking system in the 2021/22 season. He has increased the amount of training and the frequency of competition significantly – and got paid for it.
Ervin won class Youth C in the North Sea Cup. Only five players participated, but Ervin defeated them all. He followed up with silver in Youth D, where it was four wins and one loss.
Isak Døhlen-Jacobsen (15) also settled for podium places. He won three of four matches in both Youth E (2nd place) and Youth D (3rd place).
Tormod Malvin Aune (14) is the newest of the JBTK participants in Denmark. He gave himself a good experience by reaching the playoffs in Class Youth 2.
The North Sea Cup was in its time The Nordic region’s largest table tennis tournament with 800 participants from a number of nations and was held in five different halls in three cities at the top of Denmark.
This year’s edition – the 47th in a row – gathered “just” 150 participants.
