Malovanka Operations Center: Start managing Prague traffic in 2025
“In the future, all 600 intersections managed by TSK will be connected here, at the same time all the sensors we have on the roads will be connected here, and thus it will allow us to the safest and most efficient traffic management,Scheinherr said. All tunnels from Malovanka will also be controlled and training facilities will be created for dispatchers with new trainers.
Traffic in the city is currently not controlled from one place. The traffic control room is located in Na Bojišt Street in Prague 2 and the tunnels are operated from Strahov, where they were temporarily temporarily in control of only the Strahov tunnel. “In terms of traffic management, the Na Bojišti premises are insufficient. It is also an impetus to restore technology that is obsolete, “said Scheinherr.
The building is located north of Bělohorská Street between the Pyramida Hotel and Na Malovance and Patočkova Streets. It is a reinforced concrete monolithic column skeleton divided into two parts. In part A there are one above-ground and three underground floors, inside there will be TSK headquarters halls, the center’s crisis management department center and administrative and social premises. In part B there will be a two-storey underground car park and a diesel generator. There will be greenery and a fountain on the roof of building B.
A consortium of building companies took over in April this year and launched its passportization, as the construction of the former Prague management stopped in 2016 and was preserved in 2018. Experts review the condition of buildings, including the roof and perimeter cladding. “We don’t have specific outputs yet, but the load-bearing structures are in good condition and we will certainly find some things that have degraded due to the weather, but it won’t be anything significant,” said Jan Šlajs from MetrostavDIZ. For example, the windows were damaged.
The rough construction is currently being completed. “We have started some work, linings, new procedures, we are completing a higher level of real documentation, according to which the construction will be supported, and we are concluding contracts with key suppliers,” said Šlajs.
The construction of the control room at Malovance was connected with the construction of the Blanka tunnel complex, which began to be built in 2007. Its construction was accompanied by a number of problems, including three landslides. It started operating in trial mode on September 19, 2015 and was not approved until 2019. It consists of its three tunnels, through which tens of thousands of vehicles pass daily.
Inspection day on the construction of the Multifunctional Operations Center Malovanka, which upon completion will become an integrated center for traffic management and equipment of roads and tunnels in Prague. (May 25, 2022).
