In the first quarter of 2022 they are 3,589 Missing minors64.63% of the total number of missing person reports, which amount to 5,553of which 1,180 Italians and 2,409 foreigners. The percentage of finds is 72.11% for Italians and 31.17% for foreigners. Today is the International Day of Missing Children; the data comes from Government Commissioner for Missing Persons. According to the data present in the CED of the Ministry of the Interior, in 2021 there were a total of 12,117 missing minors (ie 62.88% of the total number of missing person reports, which amounted to 19,269), of which 3,324 were Italians and 8,793 were foreigners. The percentage of finds is 79.27% for Italians and 26.35% for foreigners.
From the overall data it emerges that more than half of the missing person reports concern minors, with a majority of foreigners illegally entering the national territory and included in the specific integration and insertion circuit. Missing Italian minors, on the other hand, are often victims of family and relationship problems or of contributing causes that provoke the expulsion: drugs, debts, cyberbullying, solicitations on the web, cases of revenge porn. Other cases, on the other hand, concern minors who are victims of family or parental disputes. Raising awareness of the phenomenon helps to send useful and immediately effective messages: calling the forces of conscience is, for example, explains the Office of the Government Commissioner for Missing Persons – important for using the searches. Experience shows that the first hours, immediately after the disappearance, are fundamental for research and to avoid risks also for the safety of the minor.
