Two police officers injured in an accident during a chase
Two police officers were injured and taken to hospital on Monday evening after an accident during a chase.
It was around 9:30 p.m. when the collision between an unmarked national police car and another vehicle occurred in the town of Noeux-les-Mines, in Pas-de-Calais.
As related The Voice of the Northd, a chase between the police and a driver had started shortly before in Béthune. The motorist had fled on sight of the police officers.
Arrived at Noeux-les-Mines, the fugitive ran a red light in the face of another motorist who had only time to brake. But as the regional daily explains, he could not avoid the police car.
The shock was very violent. The driver meanwhile fled. Rescuers took care of the three victims. Although the motorist was not injured, the two police officers were taken to hospital for check-ups.
The driver behind the incident was quickly identified. Other police officers came to his home to arrest him. The man was taken into custody. The reasons for his flight were not known.
