Siena greets Italvolley with a 3-1 victory against Bulgaria
The cycle of friendlies in Tuscany ends with another success women’s national volleyball team by Davide Mazzanti. Also at the PalaEstra, in front of almost 2500 spectators, the blues beat Bulgaria againthis time for 3-1 (25-20; 22-25; 25-14; 25-20) in the last test-match before the departure for the VNL 2022. On the shields the opposite Sylvia Nwakalor with her 27 points but all the blues showed signs of technical and physical growth, supported by the great work of the setter Ofelia Malinovwho showed the great ability as a director of the team throughout the match.
“I’ve been four important games – says the national coach Davide Mazzanti – because we had to pick up the pace after a month without playing. Now the games that matter will begin. We found good teams to prepare for, which put us in a position to improve at certain stages of the game. I saw some aspects that came out, little things that we have put in but that are already seen on the pitch. I’m happy because it’s not easy in such a short time ”.
An interlude of this long weekend that ended last night at the gym that brought, in Siena alone, almost 5000 people in the two friendlies against Croatia and Bulgaria. A great result for Tuscany and for Siena in particular which demonstrates the desire to restart with events of this type and with the hope that it is only the beginning of an effective and lasting collaboration with the National Federation.
“We have collected almost 12 thousand spectators in four, these days for friendlies at the beginning of the year I think it is excellent – says the president of the Italian Volleyball Federation Giuseppe Manfredi – Siena has always been a basketball city, now it is an important reality of men’s volleyball. But let’s remember that in Tuscany women’s volleyball has a great tradition and very important teams on the national and international scene “.
And on the role of Italian clubs in Europe after Sunday’s double defeat in Conegliano and Trento, President Manfredi did not double: we are always present in the matches that matter. “What I argue is that you can’t always win; the real “problem” is to always be there – says Manfredi – Winning is possible, confirming oneself is increasingly difficult, but the important thing is to always go all the way “.
