Turkey and Russia intend to expand transport cooperation
The Agroexport Center under the Ministry of Agricultural Development of Russia reported on the state of Turkish-Russian relations in the field of agro-industrial products of the Russian Federation. It is known that about 80% of merchandise imports and 58% of imports in value terms go to Turkey by sea. The growth rate of Turkish shipping by sea from 2011 to 2021 was significantly faster than the global average. “Turkey, located at the crossroads of three continents, can become a port hub for Russia. Our destinations and Turkish ports are ready to be intermediaries, we can always find points of interaction,” said Irfan Bilgin, Secretary General of the Association of Port Operators.
Trade turnover of the agro-industrial complex between Russia and Turkey reached $6,179 billion last year. This is 30% more than the year before last. Exports from Russia to Turkey grew by 37.1% ($4.3 billion). The import of goods from Turkey to Russia also increased by 16.3%, to $1,877 billion.
