Froukje, Eefje de Visser, Meskerem Mees, YellowStraps and Amsterdam Klezmer Band to Sziget
Sziget makes the first names of Europa Stage and other special stages to be seen there this year. Froukje, Eefje de Visser and Meskerem Mees, among others, are coming to The Island Of Freedom. In addition, the festival has a received hip-hop stage: dropYard, where rapper Cor and the breakdancers of The Ruggeds make their appearance.
In addition to the big shows on the Main Stage, the sky A38 and the legendary Colosseum, you will discover many other stages and acts on Sziget. Each stage has its own story and line-up. The Europe Stage has long been the place to discover great talents and new music. This year you will see singer Eefje de Visser with her modest experimental pop. Froukje broke through in the pandemic years and now plays the club halls in the Netherlands and Belgium. Meskerem Mees and YellowStraps have been announced from Belgium.
This year you will also see a brand new stage at Sziget: dropYard. During this internship you will discover hip-hop from many countries and in your own language. Not understanding your words to be gripped by the best hip hop beats. Rapper Cor and hip-hop and R&B duo Chamos have already been confirmed, as has the Dutch breakdance collective The Ruggeds.
For 20 years, the Magic Mirror has been the stage on Sziget where love is celebrated. Here you can see drag shows, burlesque, cabaret, circus and much more. This year’s Magic Mirror features the Amsterdam queer collective Sweetie Darling, including founders Darling Peter, House of Vineyard Mother Amber Vineyard and the winner of Drag Race Holland 2020: Envy Peru.
The Belgian singer-songwriter Meskerem Mees is in the Music Box and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band is throwing a party in the Global Village. The famous Cirque du Sziget has expanded and includes Hands Some Feet, which was founded in Belgium. An overview of all new stages and their acts can be found on the Sziget website.
So there is plenty to discover on Sziget this summer. In addition to major shows by Arctic Monkeys, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Stromae and Tame Impala, the festival provides an extensive side program full of (street) theatre, dance, circus, cabaret, world music and art. In total, more than 1,000 acts can be seen spread over 60 stages at the festival.
